With arguably the strongest field ever assembled in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, the Doha race produced a number of historical performances. In a contest won by Hyving Kieng (9:00.12, ’17 no. 1), Personae-managed athletes put a big stamp on the race with Ruth Jebet in 3rd (9:01.99, ’17 world no. 3), Celliphine Chespol in 4th (new Junior World Record and ’17 world no. 4), and Gesa Krause in 7th (9:15.70, improving her own German Record, and ’17 Europe no. 1). Each of these three Personae athletes established new fastest-for-place marks in the the women’s 3000m steeplechase. Albert Rop also performed well in Doha, finishing 5th in the men’s 3000m with a time of 7:38.30 (’17 world no. 5), less than 3 seconds off his outdoor personal best in the event.
Other noteworthy performances made by Personae-managed athletes in recent road or track action have included Eunice Kirwa in the Istanbul Half Marathon on 30 April (1:06:46 Asian Record and ’17 world no. 7); Bashir Abdi in the 10000m at the Payton Jordan Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California (13th in 28:15.58, ’17 Europe no. 6); and Philip Milanov in the Discus Throw at the Herentals Athletic Classic (62.95, ’17 Europe no. 11).
